Blackjack Game Rules and Tips
Blackjack Game
The following Blackjack game rules and game terms are the same for gambling online or in a live casino. BlackJack is one of the most popular casino games with the most favorable odds for winning.
When playing Blackjack, each player competes only against the dealer (i.e. the bank), not against other players. Your goal as the player is to draw cards (i.e. "hit") until your hand adds up to 21, or comes as close as possible without exceeding 21. If your first two cards total 21, you have blackjack.
If the total value of your cards is closer to 21 than the dealers, you win as much as you have wagered. If you have blackjack, you win 3 to 2 times your bet (assuming the dealer does not also have black jack). Aces count as either 1 or 11, face cards as 10, and remaining cards according to their number values.
If the total of your cards exceeds 21, you "bust" and lose your wager. If you have the same card total as the dealer, from 17 and up, no one wins and you get your stake back in a "push." Black jack beats a score of 21.
Game Terms
Split: If your first two cards are of the same value, you may split them into two separate hands, placing a second wager of equal value. You then proceed to draw cards as usual. However, if you split two aces, you get only one additional card for each hand. If you split two aces and one of your hands totals 21, this is not considered blackjack, but 21. You cannot split a split hand.
Double Down: When you have been dealt two cards, and believe that a third card may give you a position to beat the dealers hand, you can "double down." Your wager is doubled, and you are allowed to hit and receive just one additional card.
Insurance: Insurance is a game of its own within blackjack, and gives you the chance to protect yourself when you believe that the dealer may have blackjack. If the dealers first card is an ace, and if you believe that the dealers hole card is of value 10, you may buy insurance against dealer black jack at the price of half your initial bet. If the dealer does have black jack, the insurance pays 2 to 1, corresponding to the amount of your initial bet. If you have bought insurance, and the dealer does not have 21, you lose your insurance. Your initial bet is then settled by comparing your cards with the dealers. Should you and the dealer both have 21, the game results in a push.
Rules for the dealer: The dealer must draw cards until he has at least 17, and must stand at 17 or higher. If the dealer gets 16, he must take another card. The dealer may not decide whether or not to draw a card based on your hand, but must abide by existing dealer rules. On the other hand, your player strategy should be guided by two factors:
- Your own cards
- The dealers open card

The most important tip is to play consistently. Sticking to basic strategy may lead to losing the hand, but may eventually win you more money.
Roulette:
In Roulette, an ivory ball circles in the rotating roulette wheel that consists of 36 numbers plus 0 and 00. Eventually, the ball stops randomly on one of the 38 random numbers.
Each player wagers against the bank, independently from other game participants. Player winnings are based on the type of bets they place and the balls final resting-place.
There are 9 different types of roulette bets. Each bet covers a different set of numbers and has a different payout distribution.
Inside Bets:
Straight Up: A chip can be wagered on any individual number, including zero (0) and double-zero (00). The chip is placed directly on the individual number.
Split Bet: A chip can be wagered on any two adjacent numbers, by placing the chip on the line dividing the two numbers. Note that a chip can also be placed on the line dividing zero (0) and double-zero (00), 0 and 1, 2 and 0, 00 and 2, or 00 and 3.
Street Bet: Street bets cover three numbers. Place the chip on the outer right boundary line of the roulette table, next to the corresponding row of three numbers. Note that street bets can also be placed on 0,1, and 2; 0,00,and 2; and 00, 2, and 3.
Corner Bet:
Corner bets cover four numbers. Place the chip on the cross where the four numbers intersect.
Five Bet: A five bet covers the following numbers: 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3. Place the chip on the outer right boundary line of the roulette table, between 0 and 1.
Line Bet: A line bet covers two street bets (i.e. the six different numbers in two rows of three numbers. For example: 4,5,6 + 7,8,9). Place the chip on the closest boundary line of the roulette table, where it is intersected by the line dividing the two rows.
Outside Bets:
Column Bet: On the short side of the roulette table are three boxes marked "2 to 1." By placing your chip in one of these boxes, you mark all twelve numbers above it (excluding 0 and 00).
Dozen Bet:
You can bet on a group of twelve numbers by placing your chip in one of the three boxes marked "1st 12," "2nd 12," or "3rd 12."
Red/Black, Even/Odd, Low/High Bets: A bet placed in one of the boxes on the left, long side of the table covers half of the roulette table numbers (excluding zero and double zero). Each box covers 18 numbers.
